Queries about GSAT scoring
published: Friday | July 11, 2008

The EDITOR, Sir:

On behalf of concerned parents and teachers alike, I wish to publicise a question which, I believe, the Ministry of Education has been avoiding for some time: When was the current GSAT scoring system established, and why has the public been informed of this marking system AFTER the 2008 GSAT examinations?

Despite recent interviews, the minister of education (featured on various radio stations and newspapers, et cetera), I believe the minister has not given the public a satisfactory answer.

Why is communication tasks examination carrying a lesser weighting this year, whereas previously, it was the most important examination?

Why has the ministry suddenly decided to tamper with the weightings of this subject, without allowing the public to know beforehand?

I hope the ministry is kind enough to address these questions publicly and explain thoroughly how future GSAT examinations will be scored.

I am, etc.,

MYO NAING
