Reynolds
Lancelot Fitzgerald Reynolds, the former general manager and director of Jamaica National Building Society (JNBS), has passed away.
Reynolds, who was 73, was greatly respected for the pivotal role he played in the expansion of JNBS into international markets in the United Kingdom, Canada, the United States and The Cayman Islands.
Earl Jarrett, current JNBS general manager who succeeded Reynolds, yesterday commended the mammoth achievements 'Lanny' made during his tenure at the company.
"It was under his watch that the society became the leading building society in Jamaica, with assets of some $18 billion," Jarrett said. "This year Jamaica National is celebrating 20 years of operation in the United Kingdom, building on the synergies established by Mr Reynolds when he officially began service in Camberwell Green in 1988."
Kingston Technical graduate
Described by his colleagues as a people person, Reynolds, who was a graduate of Kingston Technical High School in central Kingston and served as deputy chairman of the school's board, was honoured for his continuous contributions to the institution.
Georgette Palmer, principal at Kingston Technical, told The Gleaner the trained chartered account was a committed past student who acknowledged his roots.
"He was a dedicated past student who was supportive of any activities the school had," she said. "He never forgot where he started from and was always willing and ready to contribute to the school."
Born in St James, Reynolds leaves behind his wife Elsa and two daughters, in addition to other family members.
