Sangster's Book Stores to begin home deliveries
published: Thursday | July 10, 2008

Speid

COME MONDAY, Sangster's Book Stores will be rolling out its new home-delivery service. Customers will be able to fax a list of the books they want to some Sangster's branches and then have the books delivered right to their front doors.

Deliveries are restricted to areas in Kingston and St Andrew, Portmore, St Catherine, and Montego Bay, St James. However, for those living outside of these areas, arrangements can be made for delivery at the nearest location. According to Rudolph Speid, managing director of Sangster's, the idea came about as part of strategies to lessen the hassle that customers face, especially during the busy back-to-school period.

He said it was also a way to facilitate customers overseas who have interests in Jamaica and would like to place orders and make the payments.

Even though it is being launched in the summer, it will not be a seasonal venture.

"Special orders, for instance, from special-interest groups, can be made. For example, I know some companies purchase books for their staff. We can facilitate that as well. And there are also people who would like to donate books to schools. They can just fax the list and we deliver the books," said Speid.

How to get it done

To make orders, customers are required to fax information to922-3832 and will need to make payments via credit card. Deli-veries are made three times per week - Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays - and attract a charge of $500. Persons can also contact the head office at1-800-any-book.
