Cover those bodies
published: Wednesday | July 9, 2008

The Editor, Sir:

I think it is full time that the bodies of victims of violence are treated with some respect. How can a body be left uncovered in the streets for hours open to the view of all the curious and others who pass by? How distressing this must be for the relatives of the victim. This practice is barbarous and uncivilised.

If, for purposes of investigation, the body cannot be removed (and I see no reason why appropriate steps cannot be taken to protect the crime scene), then at least some covering should be placed over the body.

If this is the premise of the police, then it is full time that instructions be given concerning this. This is a poor reflection of our society.

I am, etc:

DOREEN McLEAN-BRAMWELL
