Racial bias
published: Wednesday | July 9, 2008

The Editor, Sir:

I have a burning issue that Jamaica must be informed of. I have been in a few jobs over the years and discovered a silent war against my race.

I have been circumvented several times for job promotions that my juniors inherited. I am now in a new job that is way below my standard. I have seen many that are far less qualified than me are moving ahead.

I have taken the time to question others in Jamaica and came up with the same problem. I do believe that it is an attempt to prevent us from gaining economic power.

At my stage in life, I have to establish my own business abroad as there is no place for most of us here. The only people of my race that stand a chance of getting a decent job, are females and it is obvious why. In this society. these double negatives marginalise us, being male and Indian.

I am, etc.,

Concerned
