Anything For You was a one-off collaboration for the all-star cast that went to Penthouse Studios to record the hit song. They have all moved on with their lives. So nearly a decade and half later, what are they up to now?Snow: Darrin O'Brien may have been looking at a blanket of white in his home country, Canada, when he got his stage name Snow. His Informer hit pole position on the Billboard charts when he was in jail, where he first saw the video. Raised in Toronto, where Jamaica is omnipresent, he never scaled the musical heights he did before or had the same dancehall impact after Anything For You. Among his later efforts were the Mind of the Moon in 2001 and the Two Hands Clapping album in 2002.
television regular
Nadine Sutherland: The child star who won the Tastee Talent Contest and recorded Starvation on the Land hit a great dancehall patch which included Action, Anything For You among the hits that followed. Her Nadine album came out on VP Records in 1997, after EastWest folded and another album was shelved. After a break from the limelight of the business but not music, her 2007 Call My Name presented an effervescent but more mature Nadine Sutherland. She is also a television regular as a judge on the talent contest Digicel Rising Stars.
Beenie Man: A child prodigy who chants that he has been deejaying "from Lees Unlimited an' all Volcano time", Anything For You was a part of a phenomenal 1990s surge which cemented him as 'The Girls Them Sugar' and the best all-round entertainer of his generation. He went on to be signed to Virgin Records, win a Grammy for Art & Life in 2001 and make headlines as much for his music as marriage to, and split with, arch-rival Bounty Killer's ex-girlfriend D'Angel, as well as run-ins with Carlene.
Buju Banton: Breaking into the national consciousness with Browning and Black Woman in 1990, Buju Banton had a phenomenal string of hits, including Gold Spoon and Deportee before and after Anything For You up to 1995, when he turned the music business on its head with the Rastafarian themed Til Shiloh. Subsequent albums included Inner Heights, Friends For Life and Buju Banton & Friends (on which Nadine Sutherland featured). In 2006 he went back to raw dancehall with the Grammy-nominated Too Bad album and topped the dancehall with Driver. He currently has his own label and studio, the latest product being Jamrock Classics.
Terror Fabulous: Terror Fabulous also had a great early 1990s run, which included Position, Gangster's Anthem and Number Two. After Anything For You he was a part of the Rastafarian dancehall movement with Jah Works, but faded to mental problems. A few live performances in recent years have shown shades of his former self, but far from enough for sustainability.
prime place
Louie Culture: Education, Bogus Badge and Gangalee imprinted Louie Culture's melodic style on the dancehall. After Anything For You his prime place in dancehall faded, although the Grab Yu Lass an Come combination with Mikey Spice in the late 1990s was popular and, after the turn of the century, went back to his rural roots with "too much pressure pon de donkey back". He remains an outstanding live performer.
Kulcha Knox: Now known more as 'Kulchanarchy', Kulcha Knox has not had much in the way of hits but remains a strong live performer and often shares the stage with fiery deejay Capleton.
