Teacher's cry
published: Sunday | July 6, 2008

Teacher's cry

It's no doubt, the teachers are crying out, while the ministry sets so many rules out.

In the classroom, students need to be groomed in order to keep their minds in tune.

Their behaviour is messy because they are scarred with the values of society. Parents hardly play their part, yet they expect teachers to have a heart.

Material values and the hype block children from wearing academic stripe.

Derogatory and violent music, children don't refuse it, profanity now plays an integral part in Jamaican society without guidelines or clarity, so 'scholars' are caught confused in the same activity.

War zones are in the school, it's like the street where the dons rule, yet teachers have to play it cool.

I think the teachers are working but mentally they're hurting; while they are presented with the mantle to educate, evaluate, motivate, redirect and correct.

I plead to the ministry of Education to take a deeper look into the school situation. Evaluate the society because we are slowly losing our sanity and we may some day have to pay the penalty.
