The Editor, Sir:
Based on my personal experiences of flying Air Jamaica, these are my reasons why I prefer not to fly Air Jamaica.
Cons:
1. I usually fly out of Atlanta and air fares on Air Jamaica are 99.9% of the time more expensive than my preferred carrier. Now, I'm not talking about a mere US$ 10 or 20 more, but up to US$200 on occasions.
Miserable flights
2. I am sad to say this but the few times I have flown on Air Jamaica, the flights have been quite miserable. It is no secret that Jamaica's illiteracy rate is relatively high compared to countries like Barbados. Oftentimes, the flights are "blessed" with a number of ignorant, illiterate persons, and it only takes a few to spoil the broth.
Now, after the ordeal of going through immigration, the last thing I need is someone cutting a few choice words with hands a kimbo, getting on bad and holding up time just because his/her carry-on cannot be placed directly above his/her seat.
Pro:
1. Air Jamaica is one of the few airlines that still serves a cooked meal.
So, for me, the cons far outweigh the pro and my carrier of choice is not Air Jamaica.
I am, etc.,
