I do ...look great
published: Monday | June 23, 2008

The daytime look for your wedding is much softer than what is needed when the sunlight fades. Model is Tamika Megghross. - photos by Peta-Gaye Clachar/Staff Photographer

He proposed, you accepted, the date has been set and soon, wedding bells will be ringing.

Now it's time to plan but there is so much to be done. Remember, the main focus will be on you, so you have to look absolutely stunning on your very special day.

It can be nerve-racking trying to get your desired look. Just ask past brides and they will tell you. But not to worry, Flair has got the experts together to help you put together two very special looks.

The right make-up

On your big day, you want your make-up to last, also, you want to look gorgeous in your photographs. Your bridal make-up will be captured forever in your wedding photos; therefore, it is very important to plan your look well in advance. To ensure this is achieved, consult a professional make-up artist who will guide you through the process. In a consultation, venue, time, colour scheme and size of bridal party will be discussed. Based on this information, the make-up artist will then make recommendations and give you a demonstration(s) of how you will look on your wedding day. After this, you can breathe freely and relax with the confidence that you will look your best on that special day.

For the morning bride

When applying make-up, the amount of light you'll be exposed to in your wedding environment should influence your choice of colours. Your make-up needs to be subtle and balanced to enhance your features. If desired, a little colour can be moderately applied.

For the evening bride

Richer and bolder colours are recommended. As the evening progresses, it gets darker, therefore, brighter and richer colours need to be applied. However, note that if you go bold on the lips, downplay colours on the eyes; wines, plums and reds are recommended. If you don't usually wear make-up, bend your rule just a bit, at least apply a little foundation to your skin giving it a flawless appearance. Lip gloss with a hint of colour would be the perfect thing.

Make-up is a fun way to enhance your best feature and make you look beautiful. But remain true to yourself; you don't want to look like a stranger in your wedding photos. Therefore, your make-up should be fresh, natural and timeless. Years from now, when you review your wedding photographs, you should love that radiant beauty smiling back at you.
