Tamra and John Anthony Pollard's wedding vow renewal ceremony was set against the beautiful backdrop of the mist climbing up the Blue Mountains surrounding Strawberry Hill in Irish Town, St Andrew. Both reside in Washington, DC, but came home a year after their wedding to rededicate and renew their union.
As Rev Dr James Pollard, father of the groom, read the scripture, a swarm of noisy crickets gave confirmation even before the couple responded in the affirmative.
"Rings made of gold are most enduring and are the least tarnished of all earthly metals," stated Rev Pollard, adding that the ring was an unbroken circle, symbolic of the love of John and Tamra.
'Three times a lady'
It came as no surprise when the bride's father, Lloyd 'Tommy' Thomas, spoke of his jewel as "three times the lady, three times a mother and three times a wife".
The event was attended by an intimate group of family members and friends, including mother of the bride Audrey Anderson, mother of the groom, Virginia Pollard, Jim and Joseph Pollard, Natalie, Ricky and Marvin Thomas, Marlon Stewart-Gaynor, Florence Meikle, Dollis Campbell and Basil Smith, Phyll and Franklyn Williams, Rochelle Williams, Drs Winston Dawes and Brian Morgan, Carrole Guntley, Cynthia Bromwell, Dr Edith Lorimar and husband Joseph and a host of the bride's friends from St Andrew High School for Girls.

Lovebirds Courtney Shorter and Mallian Cato recently exchanged vows at the Bethel United Church of Jesus Christ Apostolic, in Portmore, St Catherine. The couple had been dating over a year before Courtney decided to pop the question. "I just knew she was the one," he said. - Contributed
