'Til death do us part - 'Flair' walks you through that special day
published: Monday | June 23, 2008

This week, we present our wedding edition of your favourite Monday magazine. With so many elements coming together for the perfect day, so many things can and do go wrong. We will focus on some helpful and practical hints and advice for you. From choosing your dress to make-up and combating wedding-day nerves, we will help you prepare for the most important day of your life.

So, if you can imagine being dressed and ready to go to the church but your veil is locked in your mother's bedroom and she is miles away, we have tips to make you cope.

Another bride had an allergy attack and ended up with her ceremony running so late, a second wedding slated for the church was also late and the second bride and groom had to wait in their cars.

In another incident, the entire bridal party was late because the designated driver forgot to pick them up.

And still in another true story, for one woman's wedding, her mother-in-law to be had to hire a cab from 100 miles outside of London because her brother forgot the way to the house and was lost. He subsequently missed the ceremony and all the family photographs.

Hijack

And, more recently, one rural couple had to buy a second wedding cake and all the meat for their wedding feast after the car and occupants transporting those precious items were hijacked and driven away.

Like everything else, it is always good to have a contingency plan. Nowadays, we know that if a wedding is planned for outdoors during the hurricane season, it is wise to have an alternate indoor location for the reception. We hope you find the information useful and if you have had any wedding disasters, share them with readers at: Lifestyle@gleanerjm.com and let us know how you coped.
