THE JAMAICA Karting Association (JKA) has confirmed at least 35 international drivers for the three-day 'Caribbean Karting Carnival' championship, which is scheduled to take place at the Palisadoes International Raceway, Kingston. The meet will be held from July 4-6.

At Friday night's launch of the meet, president of the JKA, Neil Williams, disclosed that about 100 karts were expected to be in action. "We have so far confirmed 17 karters from the United States, 12 from Trinidad and Tobago and six from Barbados. On Friday, July 4, we will just have an opening, but the real action begins on July 5," said Williams.

Among the overseas karters who have been confirmed for the event are Dore Chaponick, the 2008 Florida Winter Tour (FWT) champion, and Jordan Perry, the Homestead karting champion.

World champion

There is also Frederico Montoya, the 2006 Easykart 125cc world champion and Dominic Sheer, the 2004 Easykart 100cc world champion.

The US contingent also includes Troy Adams, Robert Kerr, John Brown. Juan Sebastian Arenas, Carlos Duenas, Joffrey Amaya and Juan Valderama.

It is believed Perry will be making the trip to settle a score with Jamaica's Colin Daley Jr, who gave an impressive display when he competed in Miami earlier this year. The two will also have Thomas Issa to contend with.

The Trinidad and Tobago team features Gerrard Carrington, Mark Gill, Brent Hurdle, Shah-inder Singh, Ravi Singh, David Coelho, Raj Baboolal, John Paul Tannous, Ricardo Arguilera, Nicholas Narinesingh and Fyzool Madan.

The Barbados contingent boasts Mark Kinck, Allan Kink, Luke St John, Orry Hunte, David Evelyn and Matthew Noel.
