KENSINGTON AND Hanover are in strong positions to secure first-innings points over St Ann and Lucas respectively following day one of their two-day semi-finals in the Jamaica Cricket Association's (JCA) Senior Cup competition yesterday.

At the Kensington Oval, the hosts, replying St. Ann's 219 all out, were 72-2 at the close.

Horace Miller (55 not out) and Jerald Laing (0) will resume Kensington's run chase today.

Ranville Brown (five) and Rasheed Outar (eight) were the batmen dismissed for Kensington.

Andre Dwyer (1-10) and Ricardo Dacres (1-24) were the wickettakers for St Ann.

St. Ann, who were sent in by their opponents, lost wickets at regular intervals as Akeem Dewar (4-70) and Dennis Bulli (3-58) ripped through their line-up.

Hanchard Hamilton (49), Andre Dwyer (34) and Robert Bailey (31) were the top scorers for St Ann.

At Elgin Town in Hanover, the hosts were 79 for one at the close in reply to Lucas's 175 all out.

Chan Wakefield (36 not out) and Damion Davidson (17 not out) were the batsmen at the crease for Hanover when bad light stopped play. Markan Guy (1-13) had taken the only wicket to fall for Lucas.

Earlier, Omar Campbell (5-44) and Jermaine Blackwood (3-42) tore through Lucas's batting line-up as only Wayne Gayle (50), Maurice Clarke (23) and Dwayne Guthrie (21), were able to get among the runs.

Action starts today at 10:00 a.m.
