  • Digicel cricket action continues

Action in the 2008 Digicel Business House Cricket Series continues today with four matches across the island.

In today's matches in the Reggae Jammin Foods 50-over league, Sagicor face National Water Commission (NWC) at Chalmers Ave, Jamaica Broilers take on Digicel at Jamaica Broilers, St Ann Jamaica Bauxite await Windalco at Kaiser in St Ann and Jamalco entertain Cable & Wireless at Jamalco.

All matches start at 11:00 a.m.

Last week, St Ann Jamaica Bauxite, who made 103 for one in 14.4 overs (Orville Pennant 56) defeated Sagicor 102 all out in 16.1 overs (Ricardo D'acres 5-51, Michael Thompson 5-37) by nine wickets at Chalmers Ave.

At Kensington Park, Digicel 107 all out in 25 overs lost to NWC 111 for six in 24.1 (Dean Morgan 30) by four wickets.

Rain prevented play in the other matches.

  • All-island hotel football competition

The Western Hotels Sports Association-coordinated All-island Hotels Football Competition, sponsored by Jamaica Public Service, continued on Friday with two matches.

Sunset Jamaica Grande defeated former kingpins Breezes Runaway Bay 3-2 in a close contest at Drax Hall.

In Group C, leaders and former champions Half Moon Hotel hosted winless Breezes Montego Bay, captained by former Reggae Boyz goalkeeper Warren Barrett, and, despite dominating the match, were held to a scoreless draw.

They still lead in what is a very competitive group while the draw gives Breezes Montego Bay a mathematical chance to advance to next month's quarter-finals.

On Thursday, in the day's lone match, last year's beaten finalists, Sandals Whitehouse European Village Resort and Spa, hosted sister property and former champions Beaches Negril Resort and Spa at their Whitehouse property in Westmoreland and handed them a convincing 5-0 beating.
