HOTTEST TOPICS ON THE COCKTAIL CIRCUIT

New office

1. The much-promised office for the Leader of the Opposition is now being readied. And a wonderful location too! But some are saying that the present occupant of the 'Big Yard' could be its first occupant!

Diplomatic indignity

2.Word about town is that a number of guests simply thought better of attending the high-profile diplomatic bash recently, rather than subjecting themselves to the indignity of being frisked, after having to endure complicated directions to the equivalent of a cow pasture, that was the prescribed parking area.

Why won't she shut up?

3.The story making the rounds is that the wife also thinks that she, too, should be paid and is busy voicing this opinion. Some say she ought not act the part of the prima donna; others are hoping and praying she will simply shut up!

He's a joke!

4.Some jokingly refer to him as the Occidental who has become an Oriental. Others describe his behaviour and attitude to his predecessor as that of an oaf.

Second Wives Club

5.Some are calling it 'The Second Wives Club', as most, if not all, the former mistresses have become wives. And those who have not are busy making the case for the elevation. The problem here, though, is that while some are estranged and separated from their wives, they have no intention of seeking that decree nisi.

Near bankrupt

6.When this person headed the organisation, this person trumpeted how successful and financially secure the organisation was. When the statements of accounts were finally presented, it showed a near bankrupt organisation.

Of sex tapes and ratings

7.Seems like there are at least three 'X-rated' movies now doing the rounds. One a likeable presenter, another of the well-liked and much-admired stage and television personality; the other a rootsy actor. In the case of the first clip, some are not buying the story about cellphone being lost or stolen. Was it deliberately released to boost his own ratings?

Release the audit!

8.Just what exactly did the recent audit and probe into the department reveal? Some say it showed a number of companies in breach of every conceivable ethical practice.

We want air!

9.Can the Jamaica Gasolene Retailers Association get its dealers to place or repair air pumps at the majority of their member stations across the country?

Offensive language

10. As the story goes: There was a meeting between the 'Fired' one and the chief. The chief used language the other considered offensive, and so he demanded an apology. Instead of the apology, he was told he was fired. Later in the day, the organisation with the authority to hire and fire stepped in and told the chief he was out of line. Apologies followed and the 'fired' one was talked back into the job!
