Despite the discouragement that gospel artiste Dian Henry has received, she says she will pursue her musical career because it is God's will.
Henry, who is from Resource in Manchester, says she had been told not to pursue a career in music as it was not worthwhile.
"People criticise me but that gives me the courage to go on. When they discourage me the Lord encourage me to go on. Even some of those, who criticised and discouraged me, come straight back and say they are sorry," she told The Gleaner.
Though she has been singing in church since she was eight years old, Dian recently decided to make singing a part-time career. Henry says she decided to take music seriously when she was unemployed and wanted something to occupy her time until she got a job.
"I said I wanted something to do until I got a job. I just jumped on it, prayed and fast about it. Today, it is indeed a blessing. My friends and family encourage me and I was inspired by God," said Henry who does accounting and cashiering at a company in Manchester.
Loves the Lord
She added: "It's about God because without God I dare not do nothing at all. I love the Lord and that really makes a difference. In everything I am doing I always put Him first."
Henry has been reaping some level of success in her career as she has a single, In Times Like These, in rotation on the airwaves. She says the single was released in April and is being played on Love FM, Irie FM, Khool FM and Best FM.
She also released an album, Stay Connected, and plans to release another by November. Dian says she will stage a concert on July 26 in aid of her album in November.
In addition to the her latest project, she will be performing in Grand Cayman later this year and at other gigs across the island.
