Through many days of memoriesAnd thoughts caught in full flight
A heart reaches out in search of what once was -
Bright stars now covered in an opaque realisation
That loving you would only last within
For being loved may not
Be the same as giving love.
One by one in unsuspecting harmony,
Mind, soul and body reaches out
In optimistic expectation,
Only to be planted in a world
Of could have been -
A world where newness of heart
Would lend itself
To lifelong dreams needing to be fulfilled.
"Love, no matter what,"
A still small voice whispers
with an assurance so distinct
There was no chance of being uncomfortable -
Yet, with an unsettled and eerie feeling
Of being at the centre
Of a sugar-coated lemon ...
I was being asked to love, no matter what.

Close to God
Sometimes it's painful to accept
That life doesn't always go your way.
Sometimes it's scary to feel like
You're all alone in this world.
But sometimes in the moment of your loneliness
And hurt, it's good to be reminded that
There's a God who created and cares for you.
It's good to know that in this world,
When neither man nor woman is by your side,
When there's no one to caress or embrace,
It's good to know that there's a God who
Cares and understands when you feel deserted,
Because there's none there to love you.
So, I close my eyes settled in assurance
That Jesus Christ, my Lord, is
My man, my counsellor, my provider and my God.
And I am proud to be his chick and his child.
