All students who sat the Grade Six Achievement Test (GSAT) in March should get their results by tomorrow, the Ministry of Education said yesterday.
Parents or guardians are advised to contact the schools which their children are currently attending to receive these results.
The ministry said 48,733 students have been placed in grade seven programmes, based on their performance in the GSAT.
However, the Ministry of Education said the results for students who did not submit birth certificates by the registration deadline would not be available at their schools.
Parents are advised to present the child's original birth certificate or passport to the Ministry of Education's Regional Office, which has responsibility for the school the child now attends.
The regional office will provide the placement information after verification.
Waiting anxiously
Meanwhile, students and teachers from schools across Montego Bay, St James, yesterday anxiously awaited the results.
"Most children say they know they did well," said Lorna Robinson, grade six teacher at Barracks Road Primary. "They are waiting, and getting impatient about it too."
Teachers, parents and students at other schools said they were nervous.
"For the past two weeks or more, parents have been calling and students are on edge. Some students can't sleep and others appear to be going into depression," Sandra Needham-Ellis, a teacher at the Chetwood Memorial Primary School, told The Gleaner.
Principal of the Howard Cooke Primary School in Catherine Hall, Lincoln James, shared a similar story.
"Teachers, students and parents are anxious, and it's about whether they have got scholarships or which schools they (the students) will be placed in," he said.
