Cuban help on crime?
published: Thursday | May 29, 2008

The Editor, Sir:

We applaud the prime minister and the minister of agriculture for seeking assistance from Cuba. The prime minister is making good on a campaign promise that "I will seek good ideas/people wherever they are ..." I have had much personal experiences with Cuba and would suggest that in addition to the assistance in agriculture, Cuba may provide insights in crime prevention/suppression in Jamaica.

Take notes

One feels quite comfortable to walk any place in Cuba, night or day, without anxiety/fear of being attacked. And this is not because there are armed police/soldiers everywhere. Anyone who doubts the statement may visit there. Perhaps there is something that we may be able to learn that may assist in enhancing law enforcement in Jamaica.

I am, etc.,

FRANKLIN D. JACKSON
