The Editor, Sir:The Honourable prime minister of Jamaica has said the right things in that interview and consequently has gained my respect and that of most of the Jamaican people and the majority of the entire world. Why should we as a country succumb to the demands of a few perverts. As God and faith shall live, Jamaica can get by without them.
Do not read me wrong. I believe that what a man or woman does in the privacy of his or her bedroom is none of our business. I also condemn those Jamaican artistes who continually bash, first and foremost the police, women and homosexuals and even more so the gun violence they embrace in their lyrics.
What I can't accept is that a little boy growing up in Jamaica should come to believe that it is normal to marry his male friend. It makes me sick at the thought of it, of my son bringing home a boy to me, introducing him as his lover.
Jamaica has got so many problems, thanks Golding for not bringing on another, stand up for the majority and for what you believe in. May God bless you and guide you.
I am, etc.,
