Farewell, Daisy Orane
published: Wednesday | May 21, 2008

Orane

The late Daisy Orane was yesterday hailed as a supportive and caring mother who allowed her children to become who they wanted to be.

The mother of GraceKennedy's chief executive officer, Douglas Orane, passed away on May 12. She was 90 years old.

In his remembrance of Daisy Orane, former Grace executive and family friend Ward Mills said the elder Orane was an entrepreneur and astute financial manager who also made time to bring up three wonderful and successful children - Douglas, Marguerite and Carole.

"Aunt Daisy was one of those rare persons who can assess themselves critically and honestly and embark upon self-transformation and change," Mills said during the funeral held yesterday at the Temple of Life Church of Religious Science on Fairway Avenue, Kingston 6.

"She became very positive in her outlook in later life and Doug admired her greatly for this," he said.

Orane leaves behind three children, eight grandchildren and one great-grandson.
