THE ST Catherine Saints have already secured the Jamaica Super League title and the winner's purse of $1 million, but the battle to avoid relegation looms on this final weekend.Westmoreland Wizards and Jamaica Defence Force (JDF), both at the bottom on five points, will be involved in battle to stay alive in the league, Jamaica's semi-pro competition.
Possible play-off
Anything less than three points for either team would see them playing in the Senior Cup, the island's secondary competition, next season. However, first innings points or a win for either may not even be enough to save them as they could still have to play-off with the second-placed team from the Senior Cup.
St Elizabeth Sharks, the defending champions, are third from bottom and they are also not safe as an outright win for any of the bottom-place teams would see them moving to 11 points. This mean, the Sharks need at least a draw to secure their place in the big league next season.
Near the top of the table, Manchester Lions and Melbourne Kangaroos will be fighting for the second-place prize money of $400,000 when they meet at Melbourne Oval.
