THE EDITOR, Sir:
THE CREATION of criminals begins during their childhood and Jamaicans need to understand this clearly. In most communities, there are a few young men we all watched grow up, who took to a life of crime. We see them as our own and no one says anything. Until they have murdered a member of our family and caused the sensation of pain to permeate our very souls. We bear their guilt.
Separate good from bad
Here is an analogy to consider. You have 500 young chickens you plan to raise to maturity. One comes down with a deadly and infectious disease. Do you allow it to spread to the rest of chicks or do you separate it from the rest so they may see maturity?
Jamaica, think of the slime your community has produced as diseased animals. That is all they are. You can allow them to poison your com-munity or you can take steps to separate them from hard-working and decent people. It is your choice!
We need to understand that Mrs Simpson Miller tried. Mr Golding and Minister Smith are trying hard. They cannot do it without the cooperation on every decent Jamaican.
I am, etc.,
