Flair travelled around the corporate area last week and teamed with some stores and spas to make one daughter's wish for her mother's makeover possible.

Flair published a promo requesting that readers write in and tell us why their mother deserves to have her look fast-tracked to the 21st century. From the responses received, we chose Kathy Chambers Adman's email about her mother, Catherine Chambers.

She wrote:

She is 51 years old and has 10 children. All her life, she has been a housewife and mother and has dedicated her years to taking care of her children. I don't know how she did it but with a little help, she used the little my father earns from his small farm to put her children through high school.

She has done a great job because all her children have completed or are attending high/primary school, are well behaved and have kept out of trouble in an age when so many young persons engage in all kinds of negative behaviour.

Our journey began at Kerry Kay's for her clothes and jewellery. Two of her children and three store assistants helped 'mommy' try a range of outfits. Hesitant to show her arms, Chambers surprised the entire team and was willing to try jeans and trendy tops. In the end, she chose a fresh and vibrant spaghetti strap dress.

It was then off to Foot Candy where Lisa-Gaye Chin, managing director, assisted Chambers in choosing comfortable yet stylish shoes. Once again, our special mother took the stylish route and chose pumps which give a view of her feet from every angle.

Bright and beautiful

Adam and Eve Day Spa paid homage to the feet. Sophia Davis gave her a pedicure and made her toes bright with a beautiful red polish.

The final stop was at Soft-Sheen Carson where Carlyle Roberts, technical consultant, used Dark and Lovely products to make Chamber's natural hair brilliant. Natural black hair colour was used to cover her greys. Then it was washed with Dark and Lovely 3-in-1 shampoo and conditioner. Next came Let's Jam - Heat Styles set and wrap lotion, smoothing balm and straightening cream were all used while her hair was blow-dried and flat ironed. She was given products to take home to keep her hair looking lovely. After a long day, the look all came together when Laura Lee Pellington did her make-up and she donned her new pieces. She was greeted with approval by her children who worked all day with her, as well as her son-in-law who joined later. Chambers found her renewed energy and excitement for the process. "Thank you very much for what you've done for me," she said as she left.

Thanks to the teams at : Kerry Kay's, 11 South Avenue; Adam and Eve, 114 Constant Spring Rd; Foot Candy, Shop #8 Upper Manor Park Plaza; Soft-Sheen Carson, 10A Chelsea Ave.
