Single overseas player selected
published: Friday | May 2, 2008

Robert Bailey, Freelance Writer

AFRIKA MORRIS is the only overseas-based player selected by the Jamaica Netball Association (JNA) to its Under-21 fourteen-woman squad for next month's three-Test series against Australia.

Morris, formerly of St Hugh's, now attends Leeds Metropolitan University in England, where she is pursuing a degree in international studies. She also plies her trade in the Leeds Met League competition.

The rest of the squad includes goalshooter Christina Solmon, who represented Jamaica at last year's World Championships in New Zealand, Vanessa Walker, Crystal Gordon, Mishka Banfield, Deshaun Darlington, Stacy-Ann Griffiths, Shadian Hemmings, Kimone Tulloch, Trishelle Williams, Malysha Kelly, Sasha-Gay Lynch, Sateva Taylor and Sasha-Lee Wallen.

GC Foster venue

The Tests will be held at GC Foster College and the Australians are scheduled to arrive in the island on June 19.

The tourists will also oppose this year's winners of the Berger Paints Super League competition. The matches are scheduled for June 23, 25, 27 and 30.

Both junior teams will use the series as part of their preparations for the World Championships, which will be held next year in the Cook Islands.

Jamaica finished a disappointing fifth at the last tournament in Florida. Australia won the event.
