Every child is different
published: Friday | May 2, 2008

Yesterday one of my kindergarten students was misbehaving very badly. He would not listen, would not follow instructions, disturbed the class and made noise. I took him outside under a tree, sat him on my lap and we had a very good talk. I simply asked him why he was misbehaving, and he said he wanted to go home. During our chat he listed every single school rule; so it wasn't that he didn't know the rules. He is on perfect behaviour today!

I don't say it will work 100 per cent of the time, but every child is different. One has to find the key to the misbehaviour. It takes time and some investigation. Corporal punishment is swift, takes no time, and not guaranteed to succeed either.

I am, etc.,
