NOTE-WORTHY: State of crime
published: Friday | May 2, 2008

State of crime

I will not blame the new government for the state of the Jamaican economy, but I did expect to see some improvement in the crime situation by now.

Crime is robbing Jamaica of much-needed investments and is one of the main reasons for the dangerous image we have overseas.

If the Jamaica Labour Party Government is to get more than one term, it must make some headway in improving the state of crime in Jamaica.

Job description

All teachers and principals must have a current job description which reflects their post accurately, be aware of the evaluation documents and tools used to assess the quality of their teaching and their pupils' learning, and against which they can be fairly evaluated.

It is vital, however, that all schools be evaluated externally using common tools.

Wicked thieves!

I saw the news where wicked thieves took approximately $250,000 worth of equipment from the First Hill All-Age School. Well, if those thieves can read and they are seeing this article, I want to say to them that, "You should be ashamed of yourselves!"

They have no love, no care and consideration. How could they rob the children? Don't they know the children are the future? Don't they have children of their own? The individuals who took those computers must bring them back now and make an apology to the students and the country.

We need our children to learn to use computers from early. Thieves, you need to change your narrow, self-centred attitude.

Farming query

My name is Ramone Walker and I wanted to find out how can I get into this agriculture business.

My family has over 100 acres of land that is not being used. I have some start-up money, but I would like to get more information on this.

I always had a dream to own a farm, but never knew where to start.
