St Thomas teen on gun, ammo charges

A 16-year-old St Thomas boy has been charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition Tuesday following the seizure of an illegal gun at a school in Yallahs.

Reports are that about 12:30 p.m., a police operation was carried out in Yallahs and surrounding areas. Two male students on a school campus aroused suspicion. They were accosted and a 9mm pistol, with serial number KD6677, and fifteen 9mm cartridges found in the 16-year-old's possession.

Both students were taken to the police station where the 16-year-old was charged. The other student was interrogated.

In an unrelated incident in the parish, police searched a premises at Paradise Lane where a 12-gauge shotgun with five rounds was found. No one was arrested.
