Caring the environment
published: Monday | April 28, 2008

The Editor, Sir:

I wish Jamaicans would take better care of the environment in that beautiful country. I know plastic is convenient as is paper but they should not be discarded at the beach or in the sea.

Dangerous to humans

Plastic and any kind of debris discarded carelessly can be detrimental to humans, fish and also the environment. Plastic bottles clog the landfill and paper also causes trees to be destroyed, so why not try using reusable bags and less plastic and paper.

It was not so long ago when some Russian sailors almost lost their lives in a submarine because it got caught in a fish net which obviously was discarded carelessly.

I do not think anyone will pay much attention to this but the gas guzzlers that so many of the better salaried folks like to drive are also not any good for the environment, but it is a way to let someone know that you are moving on up.

I am, etc.,
