Grow both crops
published: Monday | April 28, 2008

The Editor, Sir:

Mr Hemming's letter on the potato was exactly right, but why can't we grow both potato and cassava in enough quanties to feed and export.

There is no question that the potato is more easily grown and will give Janaicans a larger yield and is also more nutritious for people to eat.

The answer is for us to do both. One great thing has come out of this crisis: it has created a chance for Jamaican farmers to make a good living from their work.

I am, etc.,

Christopher Campbell
