BRIEFS: PM answers SUV charge

Prime Minister Bruce Golding, in resonse to a Gleaner report that more than $30 million had been spent on the purchase of new SUVs, said it became necessary because several of the vehicles which had been assigned to ministers in the previous administration were either purchased by them at the time of the change of administration, or had suffered significant damage in motor vehicle accidents.

Casket makers killed

Two casket makers at Delapenha's Funeral Home in Albion, St James, were shot and killed and the facility's workshop set ablaze yesterday evening.

Up to news time, one of the dead men had been identified as Owen Mckenzie, otherwise known as 'Jukie', while the other could only be identified as 'Buck'.
