Leonidas responds to a powerful ride from leading all-time jockey Winston Griffiths to beat MinisterofJustice (Richard Mitchell) by a neck in the Ephone To Di World Trophy race over 1820 metres at Caymanas Park last Saturday.

Tomorrow is Bigga Jamaica Oaks Day at Caymanas Park, the mammoth 12-race programme featuring two Super-6s.

Meanwhile, the Pick-9 which had no takers last Saturday, offers a carryover of $1.2 million. It will embrace race three to 11. The Super-6, how-ever, starts anew with its guaranteed minimum of $500,000.

Seven starters

We look at the second Super-6 which gets under way in race seven, the Mega Monster restricted allowance V (non winners of two) to be contested by seven starters over the circular nine course.

Despite her dismal run as the favourite over 1400 metres on March 29, ROYAL CHRIS (Richie Mitchell up) should rebound on the strength of her good second to NATURAL ATLANTA over 1500 metres on March 15. She should win from the very fit ROYAL PEARL and WIN POWER.

Next on the programme is a $460,000 - $410,000 claiming race to be contested by 10 starters, including TWENTY NINE who bids for his fourth consecutive win, CHOSEN ONE who seeks the hat-trick, WE WILL SEE, UNCLE D & ME, course specialist NUMERO UNO and ISLA (working well) from the stables of 14-time champion Philip Feanny.

Both TWENTY NINE and CHOSEN ONE have raked up winning streaks and either is capable of winning as they truly enjoy the straight. There was a lot to like about the manner in which CHOSEN ONE slammed rivals over the course in his last two races and ought to be followed with champion jockey Omar Walker sticking with the ride.

Knocking at the door

Briefly, Feanny's HONEY BUNNY (working well) gets the nod over FIRST LADY and another Feanny-trained horse, THE QUEEN in the ninth race for three-year-olds over the straight, while ARIZONA SUNSHINE (knocking at the door) is preferred to SHADOWS and DJ KYLE in the 10th for maiden four-year-olds over 1400 metres.

The Bigga Oaks has attracted the maximum 16 starters, including the Jamaica Licensed Bookmakers 1000 Guineas winner and runner-up ALSAFRA and IT IS I respectively, along with the third horse HEART OF GOLD and AHWHOFAH who finished fifth. ALSAFRA was a fighting winner of the Guineas and given the milder pace of the Oaks, she is tipped to repeat with Trinidadian jockey Brian Harding flying in for the ride once again.
