Millions from Ontario casinos
published: Friday | April 25, 2008

The Editor, Sir:

I must applaud Prime Minister Bruce Golding for the smart moved he has made in legalising casino gambling in Jamaica.

I am a Jamaican/Canadian living in Toronto, Canada.

Several years ago, here in Ontario, under the premiership of Mike Harris, we were facing a very bad economy, and I wrote to his government for him to implement casino gambling in Ontario and that he did. WOW, our economy is flourishing from the millions of dollars it brings into our economy.

I can remember too about the same time I wrote to the then prime minister, P.J. Patterson, for him to implement casino gambling in Jamaica, but it looked as if my letter had fallen upon deaf ears. So, I am looking forward to see a brighter future for Jamaica and its people.

Use rivers for irrigation

Also the Jamaican Government should make good use of the vast number of rivers to irrigate the land and plant more food by using the unemployed youths to farm the land.

Food is becoming short all over the world , so it is up to you Mr Agriculture Minister to make your smart move as what Golding did and rid Jamaica of its food shortage.

I am, etc.,
