Uzuri's love affair with slits & feathers
published: Monday | April 21, 2008

For over a decade, the gowns of Uzuri International have had a prominent place in the wardrobes of Miss Jamaica World and Miss Jamaica Universe.

Uzuri pieces are hard to miss. Of course, they have their signature side cut-outs, the dare-to-be-bare slits and feather accents. These trademarks of Uzuri International continue to be seen year after year. - Photos by Winston Sill

The design reappeared the same year on Sanique Vacianna Miss Jamaica Universe 2007 contestant in black with a slight variation.

And slit all the way and then some from this Uzuri gown worn by Miss Jamaica World 2006, Sara Lawrence.

At left, a gown from 2007, while at right Miss Jamaica Universe 2008 contestant Latoya Samuels. Looks familiar?

Huge openings in the sides are another Uzuri trademark.

With an Uzuri, you know there will be skin. Miss Jamaica Universe 2008 contestant, Adrianna Bryan.

If it's an Uzuri design, there is bound to be cut-outs in the sides. Many times it's dramatic like this one worn by Yendi Phillipps Miss Jamaica World 2007.

No one does slits all the way up there like Uzuri, in this piece worn by Miss Jamaica World 2005, Terri-Karelle Griffith.
