... Round table talk - Modern movie hall of shame
published: Saturday | April 19, 2008

I can remember watching Pink Panther on Saturday mornings as a child, and for the most part it was okay. However, I think the Pink Panther movie was one of the worst movies ever. To be honest, I didn't watch it in its entirety; I took out the DVD after trying to stay awake 30 minutes into the movie. I can't believe I even watched so much of it.

- Nadine Wilson

The worst movie I have ever watched was Godzilla (1998), another bad idea, poorly executed. This film is basically Jurassic Park 3, not a Godzilla movie.

In the film, Godzilla is awakened by nuclear testing, but looks different. He heads to New York City where the military was unable to keep the big guy from destroying things and people. The movie is two hours and 20 minutes of characters running around empty streets in the rain.

- Tyrone Wilson

Despite the fact that this was Hype Williams' debut film, Belly was one of the worst movies I have ever watched. I think what made it so horrible was the fact that I went and saw it at the theatre. This was perhaps the black version of Scarface with a stupid plot and a low climax.

I must confess, the camera shots looked good, but the movie was rubbish.

- Kareem La Touche

This would definitely be How Stella Got Her Groove Back. Although this movie had the great Angela Bassett as the main star, the plot was poorly developed and the acting was lacklustre. I was disappointed because I had read the book (written by Terry Macmillan) and was anxious to see the film adaptation. The film was a complete letdown and did not do the author justice.

- Keisha Brown

Sunshine was absolutely terrible. The plot was horrible, the acting was atrocious and it seems that by the end of the film the writers got frustrated with it and just tacked on some silly ending to make it stop. Apparently, everyone in Jamaica, except me, knew the movie was going to be horrible because the theatre was empty. I wish someone had passed on the memo.

First, I HATE horror films, and unfortunately I have been subjected to watching a number of HORR-ible movies over the years. More recently, however, I would definitely say that the SAW series - 1, 2 and 3 - were definitely the worst movies I have ever seen. Gore, blood and psychotic behaviour, definitely NOT my cup of tea!
