Hylton
The appeal brought by investment club Olint Corporation Ltd against a Supreme Court ruling which allowed former Solicitor General Michael Hylton, QC, to represent the National Commercial Bank (NCB) has been set for June 2.
Olint had contended in the Supreme Court that, by virtue of Hylton's former positions as solicitor general and chairman of the Financial Services Commission, he should not represent NCB in its case against Olint.
NCB had brought an application in the Supreme Court seeking to close Olint's accounts.
Justice Roy Jones heard the application to bar Hylton and ruled last month that there was no evidence that there had been a breach of confidentiality or that Hylton gave confidential information to the bank.
Olint brought an application in the Court of Appeal to bar Hylton from representing the bank until its appeal was heard but the application was refused.
The appeal against Justice Jones' ruling came for hearing Monday but was put off because the court was unable to hear it.
After the Court of Appeal refused to grant an injunction against his ruling, Justice Jones heard NCB's application to close the accounts and has reserved his decision.
