Community policing
published: Tuesday | April 8, 2008

The Editor, Sir:

Over the last two years the practice of community policing seems to have declined in the communities of Bog Walk. As the incidence of crime and violence increases in this once peaceful rural district, political players fail to enact in unison their campaign manifesto on social development for the area.

The short-sightedness of the previous Police High Command to detect distrust and poor community relationship between Bog Walk citizens and a few of its police equally contributes to moral decay. This has contributed to the erosion of trust and confidence in the police of Bog Walk that previous officers built a few years ago.

These concerns which are shared by many citizens whom I represent as councillor have since been discussed with Commissioner of Police Hardley Lewin. Through this medium, I would like to thank the commissioner for listening to the many issues pertaining to the management of crime and violence in Bog Walk and the deterioration of good relationship between citizens of Bog Walk and the police. I hope his intervention will be swift and help to significantly promote the real concept of community policing.

I am, etc.,

Dr RAYMOTH NOTICE
