Congrats, Red Stripe!
published: Tuesday | April 8, 2008

The Editor, Sir:

This organisation congratulates Red Stripe for its decision to withdraw sponsorship from live music events which facilitate violent and antisocial lyrics.

When we as a nation - at the governmental, corporate and citizen levels - realise that much of what is in the public eye is responsible for the state we find ourselves in at this moment, and stop supporting the things that would possibly degrade our country and encourage crime and violence, then we are truly beginning to make paradigm shifts in this nation and start restoring Jamaica to its majestic position in this world.

It takes courage to stand up for what we believe to be right, knowing that we can effect powerful changes, even at the risk of losing income.

There is a great moment of urgency in this country to end this crime and violence which is manifested on so many levels in our small island.

I am, etc.,
