What a week it was!

My daahlings, what a week it has been, and then some! First, there was talk and email in circulation that the wife cornered the mistress and gave her a sound thrashing. Others had a different take on it however, saying the wife did initiate the confrontation, but it was the mistress who actually did the whipping.

And then there was talk of the big party in the country that had party-flavours of the 'oral' and 'pungent' kind. Then there was more talk of investment schemes and their principals and 'the biter'; all of which eclipsed the carryings-on of carnival. But the line doing the cocktail circuit, is that the politician, having grown tired of being at the receiving end of the poison pen of one scribe, was being poked fun of by his colleagues in the 'house'. In his true understated manner said he really did not mind her writings, he was, however, trying to figure out a way to get her to come to his farm and stand in his cornfield to help him scare away the blackbirds and crows plaguing his corn.

Well my dears, you can all imagine the guffaws that followed that priceless comeback. And so it is, it is the only joke now doing the rounds in upper St Andrew. That, of course, and the question as to the identify of the 'biter'.

Then my daahling dears, it was the premier event on the social and entertainment calendars last weekend, and dears, really, no wonder here as with the pioneering Chris Blackwell as patron, and the enterprising Jon Baker as the driving force behind the event, it was always expected to be an 'A-crowd' affair.

Luvs, for some time now it has been one of the island's best kept secrets - the GeeJam Studios and Island Outpost Boutique resort, that was being fine-tuned for public debut and indulgence.

Luvs, a collaborative effort between founder Jon Baker and the illustrious Chris Blackwell, the much- anticipated official opening and welcome of the new and exciting venture took place last weekend to fabulous reviews and wide acclaim in what was decidedly a high-powered, high-profile ceremony. The bigwigs of the tourism and entertainment industry, as well as the political directorate were out.

And dears, the buzz is it was most definitely one of the fabbest events of the season, with the chic and the glam-crowd, not to mention the leisure class, in attendance. Doves, it was a happening affair from the start that saw some specially invited guests getting the very, very important persons (vvip) treatment.

And here we are talking flights over to Port Antonio, with pick-ups and transfers to and from the occasion.

Belated wishes

Belated birthday wishes to Eric 'Busha' Clarke, of Savanna-la-Mar, who celebrated his special milestone of a birthday on Tuesday of this week. The happening Yvonne Wilks, who actually celebrated on Sunday. The indomitable Lester Spaulding who celebrated on Tuesday. And businessman and racing aficionado Howard Hamilton, who celebrated on Wednesday.

Many happy returns y'all with Champagne toasts and beluga treats.

Then my dears, still speaking of the fab and illustrious and their birthdays, the invites are out for Lloyd Jackson's 50th birthday bash in Florida, on the July 4th weekend. The former head of Jamaica Cultural Development Corporation and now employee of the American State Department will celebrate his birthday on July 5 and the planned weekend of activities is expecting an international contingent consisting of family and friends, to descend on Florida.

Invitations are also out for the 60th birthday celebration for the lovely Dorothea Gordon-Smith, who will celebrate her milestone, on April 12 and with the dress code stipulates: "Dress: To Puss Back Foot", y'all know we are talking nothing short of a fun and fabfest here. Well my dears, more anon as this is definitely a must attend.

Invitations are also out for celebrated hotelier Peter Fraser's 60th birthday in July, and luvs this one promises to be another one of those encounters of the fabulous kind and nothing but, as confirmations and queries are pouring in for what promises to be a safari and then some.

Luvs, it all promises to be a season celebrating milestones, and luvs, how!
