Meadhaven United wrapped up the Victoria Mutual Building Society/ Kingston and St Andrew Football Association Super League title in commanding fashion, with a comfortable 4-0 victory over Police National at the Michigan Oval on Saturday.

With as many as three games, and even four for some, remaining, Meadhaven United lead the points standings with an unassailable 52 points, followed by second place Bull Bay (37), which went down 1-2 surprisingly to bottom-placed team Rockfort (3). Meanwhile Cavalier (24), led by a four-timer from national Under-20 representative Alanzo Adlam, hammered the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) (28) 7-0 and Maverley/Hughenden (18) defeated Constant Spring (13) 2-1.

Scorers

Adlam scored his goals in the 10th, 65th, 81st and 90th minute, while Kevin Samuels (58th, 73rd) and Claudius Blackburn (17th) were the other scorers for Cavalier.

Eric Brown, manager of Cavalier, said: "We came out with a plan to dominate the game from start to finish because we know that we can't catch the leaders Meadhaven United and so we are aiming to finish second place in the competition."

Brown added: "We know that we can't win the competition. However, we're now looking to build as we have including a number of our Under-20 players and if we can do this then we should be a force to be reckoned with next season."

Off day

Meanwhile Mark Miller, assistant coach of the JDF, said: "Today was an off day for the team because the majority of the starting players weren't available for this game due to injuries.

"We just have to go back to the drawing board and refocus and try to get over this loss and hope that we can get better in the remaining games," Miller explained.

In the Major League competition, Swallowfield defeated Real Mona 2-1 and Olympic Gardens stopped Liguanea United 2-1.

In Syd Bartlett action, Maxfield Park stopped Meadforest 3-1 and Pembroke Hall got by ISCF 3-1.
