THE EDITOR, Sir:
We refer to your article of February 20, 2008 titled 'Contractor General clamping down on Government entities' which listed several agencies reported to have failed to comply with the Office of the Contractor General (OCG) requisition.
As the Toll Authority was among the entities listed and based on queries received, we feel compelled to respond in order to clarify some issues.
Since the issuing of the requisition for the preparation and submission of QCA reports in 2006, the Toll Authority has complied and submitted all quarterly reports. However, in relation, to the reports for the first and second quarters of 2007, we inadvertently failed to meet the deadline as required by the Office of the Contractor General.
Significantly, a perusal of our reports for those periods would reveal that we had no contract on which to report. This would indeed be the case with all reporting periods as all contracts are executed by our parent ministry.
We trust that the above information clarifies the issues concerning the Toll Authority.
I am, etc.,
JOAN FLETCHER (Mrs)
Toll administrator/CEO
