Taylor inks one-year deal with Norway club

Striker Fabian Taylor will join countryman Oneil Thom-pson in Norway, after inking a one-year loan deal with Norwegian first division club Notodden FC from local outfit Harbour View yesterday.

Following the formal signing of the contract, the forward is already in transit to Norway, as he must hurry to begin registration by March 31 in person to be eligible to play in the upcoming season, which kicks off on April 4.

Taylor left the island, along with Notodden FC general manager, Per Arne Hansen, who visited the island to finalise arrangements with the local club and support Thompson, who took part in Wednesday's international friendly against Trinidad and Tobago.

Top scorer for Harbour View, the 27-year-old forward had led the local league in scoring with 12 goals in January, before sustaining a knee injury which forced him to sit out six weeks.

Taylor recently returned to take part in the CONCACAF Cham-pions Cup quarter-finals against DC United, which saw the home team hold the Americans 1-1 draw at home, but went down 5-0 in the return leg.

While admitting that the departure of the team captain and leading scorer will be a big loss for Harbour View, general manager Clyde Jureidini says the club is happy the player has got another international opportunity.

Deserves a chance

"It will be tough to do without our captain and leading scorer, but in the last few weeks, we have exposed a lot of talented young strikers and now they have a chance to prove themselves," he said. "Fabian deserves another chance once again to compete internationally and we are sure he will be able to make a valid contribution to Notodden once he gets going."

In 2004 Taylor had a loan stint with MetroStars of the United States Major League Soccer where he scored five goals.

Taylor has scored nine goals for the national team in 39 appearances.
