Jamalco coming for Molynes
published: Saturday | March 29, 2008

Robert Bailey, Freelance Writer

Nevers

Defending champions Jamalco will meet Molynes United 'A' in today's feature game of the Jamaica Netball Association (JNA) Berger Paints Super League competition at the Leila Robinson Courts, starting at 7:30 p.m.

Also at the same time, Police 'A' oppose Arnett Gardens and Waulgrovians 'A' battle Jetsetters 'A'. At 6:15 p.m., Tivoli Gardens 'B' entertain Windalco.

Jamalco are gunning for their second consecutive victory of the season and their coach, Winston Nevers, says they will be extending themselves.

"We are coming all out to win this game because we know that Molynes United is a very strong team," said Nevers. "They have strong players both in attack and in defence and so we are not going to take them lightly."

Nevers stated that the team is gelling at the right time, but also noted that they are missing the presence of national goal shooter Romelda Aiken in their attacking third. Aiken is now playing in the Australian semi-professional league.

"We now have back our veteran national goal shooter Elaine Davis who was out with a knee injury and wing attack Meisha Reid is with us, so we are aiming to win the game from the attacking third," Nevers disclosed.

Hopeful

Molynes United 'A', promoted to the Super League this season, are yet to win a game in the competition and their coach, Roy Price, is hopeful.

"I think we have a slim chance of winning this game because our season hasn't been going according to plan, but we are still going out there to be competitive against a very good Jamalco team," Price pointed out.

"I believe that inexperience is getting the better of my team this season. However, we are still hopeful that we can make it into the quarter-finals because we still have four games left to go and we are hoping to win all of them."
