Chambers exploring rugby
published: Saturday | March 29, 2008

CASTLEFORD, England (AP):

Sprinter Dwain Chambers is being linked with a switch to rugby league after being shunned by British athletics.

Chambers was banned from 2003 to 2005 for testing positive for the steroid THG, but came back this month and claimed a silver medal in the 60 meters at the world indoor championships. But the 29-year-old Chambers is set to hold talks with British Super League club Castleford, his spokesman Damion Silk said yesterday.

The club in northern England made no comment, but will be holding a press conference on Monday to make a major announcement.

Chambers initially retired from athletics after his doping ban and briefly tried his hand at American football as a backup wide receiver with the Hamburg Sea Devils in NFL Europa. He returned to athletics in February and qualified for the world indoors. UK Athletics reluctantly named him to the team for Valencia.
