Newspaper vendor Stacey-Ann McBean can rest easier as, on Thursday, she received a bed and stove from The Gleaner's corporate office after fire destroyed her two-bedroom home last month.
The mother of three, who has been selling daily newspapers at the corner of Eastwood Park and Red Hills Road for some 13 years, said she was extremely grateful for the donation.
"I feel very nice. I really appreciate what Gleaner has done because I lose everything in the fire. Only my children I save, and is because they never at home at the time," she said.
Terry McNeil, marketing officer at The Gleaner Company Ltd, said she was delighted to make the donation to McBean after becoming aware of her plight.
"At The Gleaner, we take care of our own," she said. "We saw that she was in need and decided to help her because she has been a loyal distributor of The Gleaner for many years."
