Waulgrovians continue winning streak

WAULGROVIANS 'A' recorded their second consecutive victory in this year's Jamaica Netball Asso-ciation (JNA)/Berger Paints competition with a comfortable 52-41 over Windalco on Sunday at the Leila Robinson Courts.

In the day's other game, Jetsetters defeated Molynes United 'A' 58-53.

Waulgrovians 'A' were quick out of the blocks and seized the early advantage, ending the first period with a three-goal lead at 27-24.

The team then stepped up their defence in the third period as they outscore their opponents 15-9 for a 42-33 lead at the end of the quarter.

Comfortable victory

National goal shooter Simone Forbes led the way for Waulgrovians 'A' with 31 goals from 36 attempts as the Patrick Brissett-coached team romped to a comfortable victory.

Forbes received solid support from Suzette Desouza who scored 21 goals from 27 attempts. Diana Millwood was the top scorer for Windalco with 32 goals from 42 tries.

Meanwhile, Crystal Gordon led the way for Jetsetters 'A' with 46 goals from 52 attempts while Annette Miller scored 12 goals from 16 tries in their victory over Molynes United.

National senior representatives Christina Solmon, 40 goals from 49, and Odette Harris, six, scored most goals for Molynes United 'A'.

In the Western Union Division 'B' League, Omega 'B' defeated Hellshire 27-23, Red Challenge whipped Springfield 25-13, Friendship trounced Jetsetters 'B' 52-34, Hampshire 'B' stopped New Kingston Raiders 'A' 21-19, and Correctional Services shot down Whitehorses 29-23.

Ocho Rios Magics thrashed Eden Strikers 56-15, the Jamaica Fire Brigade stopped the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) 29-27, Molynes United 'B' got by New Kingston Raiders 'B' 25-8, Leiba Gardens whipped Speg 'B' 40-9 and Police 'B' shot past Maverley 35-21.

In the Supreme Ventures Division 'A' League, Speg 'A' defeated Alexander Strikers 37-34, Hampshire 'A' edged Alpha 31-30, Blades United stopped Waulgrovians 'B' 41-30 and Maxfield Park whipped Ebony Strikers 44-33.
