Jamaica scrape by T&T for second win

JAMAICA RECORDED their second straight victory at the CLICO West Indies Under-15 tournament in Dominica yesterday.

However, the side, under the guidance of coach Terrence Coke and manager Ephraime McLeoxd, had to fight hard to secure victory at 103 for eight, this after they dismissed Trinidad and Tobago for 102 in 30.3 overs. It took a 24-run sixth wicket stand between Delbert Gayle and Amanja Norris, who scored 15 each, which rescued Jamaica from 56 for five and set up the victory.

John Campbell top scored for Jamaica with 22 against impressive bowling from Isiah Rajah (2-14) and Addrien Daniel (2-24).

Earlier, Ramone Senior took 3-12 and Campbell 3-25 to help dismiss T&T, who suffered their second defeat.

Elsewhere, Kraigg Brathwaite scored the first century of this year's tournament - 109, to lead Barbados to a big 170-run win over the Leeward Islands. Kyle Mayers, 47, supported Brathwaite, against Jeffrey Adams 3-38. In reply, Sean Thornington (3-6) and Shane Parris (3-18) helped dismiss the Leewards for 77 in 20.3 overs.

In the day's other match, the Windward Islands, also made it two from two, with a five-wicket win over Guyana. Guyana made 131 in 38.3 overs with Dayanand Roopnarine getting 38 against Odiamar Honore (3-21) and Austin Edwards (2-16).

The Windwards replied with 133 for five in 35.2 overs. Kaven Hodge top scored with 54 not out against Amir Khan (3-35).
