SIR KHAN, running at odds 9-1 with non-claiming apprentice Javour Simpson aboard, gets the better of TOBAGO (right, Rayan Wilson) to win the ninth race over 1500 metres for overnight allowance horses at Caymanas Park on Wednesday. - Colin Hamilton/Freelance Photographer

With the fancied horses routed left, right and centre at Caymanas Park on Wednesday, tomorrow's Pick-9 boasts a carryover of $1,064,649.60.

With the five-star bankers SMOOTH DUDE biting the dust in the ninth race, not to mention other well-backed favourites such as NUMERO UNO and SHAKE YOUR BOOTY, only one punter was good enough to win the attractive consolation prize of $151,516.00 with eight of the nine winners.

The Super-6 was hardly any easier. Two punters spotted all six, each receiving a whopping $699,125.50. There is a hi-five carryover of $263,822.65 going into the sixth race tomorrow.

Super-6

There being 12 races, the programme facilitates two Super-6s, while the Pick-9 will embraces races three to 11. We look at the second Super-6 which gets under way in the seventh race over the straight five course for open allowance horses.

A field of seven has been declared, from which the recent winners CRUCIAL POINT and BULLET TRAIN along with CLASSY BOY PETE (working well) and FREE FALL (regaining form) are the leading lights.

Champion jockey Omar Waker rides the in-form course specialist BULLET TRAIN who got up in time to catch the front running EXPLOSIVE PEAK over 1100 metres when last raced on February 2. Prior to that he beat the subsequent course winner CRUCIAL POINT by a head over this trip on Boxing Day and it should be pretty close between them once again.

While having every respect for both BULLET TRAIN and CRUCIAL POINT, who is slightly better off at the weights, Philip Feanny's CLASSY BOY PETE now dropped in class and working well, could defy top weight under five-time champion Trevor Simpson as he's no chicken over the straight.

Ideal trip

MAGNIFICO, now back to the ideal trip after finishing eighth to stable-companion ROYAL BLAST over 1800 metres recently, should rebound over 1500 metres and upstage GALLAVANTER and GREAT SENSATION, both fit animals.

The speedy filly AHWHOFAH (working well) will have to be caught in the ninth race, the $900,000 Thornbird Stakes (Guineas trial) over 1400 metres in which IT IS I, recent winner ALSAFRA and HEART OF GOLD are dangerous opponents in a field of 12 three-year-old fillies.

Recent winner FOURFOURTYFOURTRAIN (Simpson up) is tipped to follow up in the 10th over a mile for $170,000 claimers, while the talented 3-y-o colt ROYAL IMAGE (working exceptionally well) should not be beaten in the 11th, the Prince Consort Stakes (Guineas trial) for 3-y-o colt over 1400 metres. And the closing overnight allowance race should come down to a straight fight between the improving American horses, SMOOTHABILITY and JODI'S CALL.
