DEFENDING RURAL Under-19 champion boys, St Mary High, blanked Dinthill High 5-0 yesterday to complete their fixtures with a perfect win record and advance to the semi-finals of the Inter-secondary Schools' Sports Association table tennis competition.
Lynval Green, Ainsley Segree, Javed Cameron, Horace Chung and David Hylton gave 3-0 whippings to Delrick Lindo, Sheldon Reynolds, Clive Garriques, Andre Creary and Lorenzo Crossman, respectively, to ensure St Mary's victory.
Manchester High's boys' and girls' Under-16 teams also booked their places in the semis, as the boys defeated Glenmuir 4-1 and the girls, although losing 3-2 to Glenmuir, advanced by virtue of beating Glenmuir 3-1 in their first-round encounter. Both finals will be against St Mary High.
Ivana Hayman won two matches for Glenmuir in the Under-16 duel against Manchester. Hayman trounced Natasha Wright and Nerole Larmond 3-0 and Annique Henriques nipped Larmond 3-2 to secure the third win for Glenmuir. Wright eased past Henriques 3-0 and Trixie-Blair Chung blew away Yashka Hayles 3-0 for Manchester's two victories.
In five Urban Under-19 matches, Wolmer's Boys blanked St Georges 4-1, St Jago drubbed Jamaica College 4-1, Kingston College blanked Ardenne 5-0, Hillel won by default over Meadowbrook and Calabar did likewise over newcomers Cumberland.
In two Under-16 boys' matches, St Georges blanked Wolmer's 5-0 and Kingston College clipped Campion 3-2.
Defending All-island champions Wolmer's Boys extended their lead in the Under-19 category group one and are now on 21 points, well ahead of St Jago and Jamaica College (nine), St. Georges (eight) and Campion (five).
Calabar lead group two with 25 points, followed by Kingston College (22), Hillel (11), Ardenne (10), Meadowbrook (nine) and Cumberland (five). The top two finishers from each group will advance to the semi-finals and final on March 19.
