Ascot High edge Tivoli
published: Thursday | March 13, 2008

SECOND-HALF goals from Chentol Henry and substitute Ashley Smith carried Ascot High to a 2-0 victory over hosts Tivoli Gardens in the Inter-secondary Schools' Sports Association (ISSA)/ Malta schoolgirls' football competition on Monday.

Despite the victory, Everald Campbell, the coach of Ascot, was displeased with his side's efforts.

"This was a very poor per-formance by my team today," said Campbell. "They played very lacklustre because having beaten them 4-1 in our first game and coming here and winning just 2-0 does not please me.

Back to the drawing board

"However, three points is three points, so we just have to go back to the drawing board and look at our mistakes and see if we can improve for the remainder of this round," he said.

Neil Salmon, coach of Tivoli Gardens, said: "I think we played well because this is a very young team and our girls are still learning the game."

"Even though we lost the game, I still think we could have won because we dominated the first period but we just didn't score any goals," he said.
